How to Get Audio Working Again in Motorola Phone

  1. cabtattle's Avatar

At some betoken while I slept last night, my Moto Thou (running KitKat) decided that I didn't need functional audio. I overslept, missing an appointment, and on waking, I was informed by the telephone that I had missed my warning. I've never missed an alarm before, so I decided to see what my audio settings were. Sure enough, alarm book was maxed out, but and then I noticed that I wasn't getting a little beep on the volume slider when I adjusted the telephone book manually. Going to YouTube, I realized the phone wasn't transmitting audio at all. Using my expert IT knowledge, I turned it off and on, and it has worked since.

The problem? I tin can't trust this thing now. I don't know what caused this outcome, and while it's working for the time being, I tin can't rely on it for incoming calls to be audible, or for my alarms –*for annihilation requiring audio, really. Since it managed to do this last night without me interfering, how am I to know when it'll exercise this over again? There was no alert of this problem. I never did annihilation to change the audio settings, and indeed, they were all at full volume. The only thing I did that fabricated any divergence either fashion was restart the phone to fix the effect.

If anyone has experience with this effect, please let me know. Just final night, I was raving about how wonderful the Moto G is for a budget phone. Today, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. This is an intolerable flaw.

    Welcome to the forums!

It'due south unfortunate to hear about this issue you had concluding nighttime. All I can suggest is to brand certain the volume is fix all the style upwards via Settings > Sounds. Also, your recent effect could possibly have been caused by an App. Did you install anything just before going to bed or during the twenty-four hour period?

Lastly, information technology could been a onetime incident. Though, can certainly understand your frustration since you seem to have missed some appointments every bit a result.

Volume was maxed out, and I quadruple-checked that / played with the book settings prior to powering the phone off and on again, subsequently which bespeak it worked. No new apps were installed yesterday. I'll go on checking the thread in the hopes that someone else has had this issue, and in the meantime, I'll just keep an eye on it. If it does information technology again, I'll get a new phone. Then frustrating, though. I loved this thing when I commencement got it.

Just a quick thought but I wonder if the Media Server service is used to play sounds like it is used to play "media" and whether or non it had "crashed". Practice you use an App Killer and had you used it prior to going to slumber? If then you may have inadvertently stopped media actor only I would accept idea it would only restart itself anyway.

So its all simply guesswork simply thought I'd mention it.

Thanks for the proffer. At that place'due south no app killer on my telephone, though. I keep trying to gauge at which of the apps I apply might have caused this. I don't think any of my apps even updated before I lost sound last dark, and then it's a mystery to me then far.

I just had the aforementioned issue.
It happened in the middle of talk-to-texting an SMS message. One judgement it was fine, then nil.
Suddenly in that location was no sign of the phone hearing anything (no pulsing red circle).
Too all playback sound went away.

Information technology's never happened before. The only new thing was installing skype this morning. (12 hrs agone)

    A restart fixed it.

I just had this happen too. I accept noticed that when you remove headphones when playing audio that the audio stays shut off and volume has to exist turned on again manually. Yet, the last time this happened I turned the volume all the way upward and no sound. Plugged headphones back in and nonetheless no sound. Rebooted and worked just fine. I really hope this doesn't happen when I need the alarm to wake up, that would be a disaster.

    Hello all,
I accept this disappearing audio since last Thursday and it's driving me mad. I have a Moto G on 4.four.2 unrooted and out of the blue information technology started having issues with sound. At first I noticed that when I picked up the phone the other caller could hear the ambient sounds from my side but every bit soon as I started talking, my voice would be cutting off. I could hear nothing and after a while the other caller'southward voice would come up through but would also get cut a few times. I then noticed that when I play videoclips in youtube there's no sound from the back speaker. If I put the headphone jack in and out then the sound comes (so the speaker is functioning) and after 2-3 seconds it is silent once more. Volume buttons practise zero when the audio is silenced (either phone call or app sounds), they show that I'm increasing the book but the sound is still silenced. Up to now, the alarms ring unremarkably though. This must be a software glitch in the organisation and I can't go rid of it past rebooting, safe mode, erasing cache partition, changing the runtime from Dalvik to Art, disabling GoogleNow... Whatsoever ideas?

I have a problem with the Moto 1000, too. No affair what volume settings I have for ringtones, notifications etc, any app that updates can change them - e'er to lower volume settings. I frequently miss calls as a result. The problem is that an app's permissions take priority over YOUR volume settings. Information technology would be a good idea if Motorola changed this and then our settings had priority.

I don't take the MotoX, I have an LG E-980 (AT&T Optimus G Pro), but the same matter described in this forum happens to me. I just got this phone exactly a month ago and I absolutely loved it. It came loaded with Jelly Edible bean, and the offset thing I did was update information technology to the kit Kat 4.4.2 update offered through AT&T, and I noticed the problem on the first mean solar day. The weird thing is that about times I can set it by opening my camera app, which is weird, simply other times, the simply thing I can exercise to fix it is a soft reset. I noticed that it happens most later on a phone call, and sometimes making another telephone telephone call fixes it, and others it doesn't and I tin can't even hear the person whom I called... It is so random and unpredictable and freaking ANNOYING. Starting time I did a search specific to my phone and couldn't observe ane thread on the issue. And so I decided to practice a search just specific to android phones and that'south when I found this thread and several others, but not one has an respond to what it is that is causing the problem. If anyone has a solution or at least an idea to what is causing the problem please post information technology here. And if I do find out what the upshot is, I volition mail service it here too. Thank you!

How-do-you-do, I have purchased a Moto G 5 months back. Eveything works fine, except for 1 problem. Sometimes the Volume automatically goes to 0 (Vibrate) and I miss many calls. There is no proper scenario for this happening. Is there whatever setting changes for this or does this happen when any games are being played?
